Dreams beyond the lies I tell myself
That I work harder than I actually do,
In reality, I spend a lot of time dreaming,
About the wonderful things that I could be becoming.
The lies that I tell myself,
That I'm unaffected by poverty,
Metaphorically and physically wealthy,
That I've never lacked and always prosper steadily.
I tell myself,
That I don't care if/when people hurt me,
That I'm immune to the pain they've caused me,
No greater gain, no feelable shame, just a fleeting spree.
I tell myself,
That I believe in lasting love,
Sent from unforeseen forces below and above,
That I'm destined for more than I foresee I'll ever have.
I tell myself,
That no one cares about me,
I remain unconsidered in day-to-day activity,
That I am nothing once away from their presence,
but fleeting efervescence.
I tell myself,
That the world is out to get me,
A web of plots and plans so tricky,
And in this maze of thoughts, I find my way to be free.
For in these lies, I find my truth,
The hidden strength, of an untold youth,
Through self-deception, I learn to rise,
To see the world through clearer eyes.
These lies I tell, they shape my tale,
And in every stumble, in every fail,
I find the courage to prevail,
And in the end, I'ill set my sail. Again.
To seek the stars, to chase the dawn,
To find the peace where I belong,
For though the lies may lead me astray,
So do they guide me to dreams of a brighter a day.
